7th and Up

Most studies agree that the positive academic effects of homework only become noticeable after 7th grade.

Let Them Play

Homework in the lower grades is not academically harmful, but it can crowd out more developmentally important activities for younger kids like play and family time. Consider the non-academic developmental needs of your students when considering homework.

Keep it Brief

Students in middle school who were assigned homework more frequently performed better on tests. The strongest effect was assigning small amounts of homework very frequently.
